Branding Small Business Spotlight for Vicky Jomma

Hi everyone! I’m Vicky, a Certified Life Coach behind Victoria May Coaching.

I believe that we all deserve support, and I aim to hold space for every woman I work with in order for them to be empowered and reflective in their journey’s – no matter what they may look like.

My passion lies in connection – connection to each other, and a deeper connection to ourselves. When we live our daily lives through our values and authenticity, we are happier, more successful & motivated. I am just another woman on a constant mission to be better – and I want to give everything I have learned and experienced to everyone I work with so they can experience their own version of growth and self-betterment.

Q. Tell us more about you! We’d love to know about your business today and the story of how you got there.

My business story is still pretty new! I worked as an interior designer for many years, and eventually shifted into more leadership based roles within my industry. I balanced a full time career, being a mom of 2, and everyone’s social lives/commitments in-between. Being able to tend to my own needs and desires seemed impossible. I experienced a form of burnout and anxiety that forced me to really look inward and do some serious reflection. I took the aspects of my life and career that lit my soul on fire and had some real AH-HA moments. I was happiest when I was leading and supporting the women around me. I cared more about their growth and success than I did my own. That’s when things started to shift – I needed to experience this more. So I quit my job, focused on myself and my family, and set myself on a path where I could honor myself, and help support other women to do the same. And that is how my coaching business came to be!

Q. Let’s dive more into the specifics of your business. What products/services do you offer? What do you do for your clients that sets you apart?

Currently, I offer private and group coaching for women. This can be accomplished through a few different avenues. I understand the lives and dynamics of modern women today, and that relatability is really crucial when connecting with each other, and ourselves. Women need a form of support and guidance that they can fit in their lives while they embark on these journey’s. My mission is to offer these services (and future products & courses – stay tuned!) in a way that makes sense. I offer a holistic approach that feels very safe and empowering, but back it with scientifically proven methods and research based findings.

Q. What inspired or influenced you to create your business?

This is a huge question – and I really appreciate it for so many reasons. First, I was inspired by my direct experience with my own career and family. I feel our society doesn’t value the individual or family (and by family I mean literally however your family dynamic looks!) enough, and these feelings were exacerbated by the pandemic. I barely had enough mental capacity to show up for myself, let alone my family. I was the woman that ‘had it all’, yet I was absolutely drained and miserable within my own existence. And I knew I wasn’t the only one – so second, I was influenced by all the women around me. They were suffering. Stressed. Stretched disproportionately thin compared to our male counterparts. This very real inequality exists and was so exposed this past year. We have some serious work to do. I knew I could at the very least make a difference in myself, which would change the little world around me. And then I knew I could be the sounding board for other women to do the same – and maybe, just maybe, that ripple effect could start….. but it all starts within ourselves first. So even though I became a statistic myself for leaving the workforce during the pandemic – I did it with intention. And one I will bring to each encounter with every woman I meet and work with.

Q. What are you most proud of in your work?

Witnessing someone experience an insight, or making progress in how they view themselves in a more positive light is truly inspiring. I take no moment for granted in these conversations and interactions – they are humbling and moving.

Q. What is one challenge you’ve overcome as a business owner, and what did you learn from it that you can share with others?

I have always struggled with ‘putting myself out there’. I am an introvert, so it takes a lot of inner energy for me to do that. In the past I have preferred silent and hidden success – I never wanted to be put on the spotlight so this is a huge learning curve for me. I learned that surrounding yourself with like minded people is inspiring and supportive. There is room for everyone at the table, so find a table with women just like you and you will see that you have something to offer, and it is worth it! Also, admit where you need help. You cannot be the expert in everything, so seek help where you need it most – it’s worth the investment.

Q. What is your favorite part of what you do?

Connecting with other women & mothers. 100%. No question.

Q. What is one thing you do to set yourself up for success every week?

I am a huge fan of time blocking. I use my calendar to block off time to ensure I have the ability and capacity to get everything done I need and want to. It allows me to visually see my week, which really helps with feelings of anxiety. I also utilize The Five Minute Journal every morning and evening. I guess that is two things-  but they are both really important to me!

Q. What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

There are honestly so many that resonate with me. One that rings true for me right now is ‘we cannot become what we want, by remaining where we are’.

Q. Where can people find you to learn more? (Leave your email, website, social media handles, etc.!)
